Gouden Carolus
Every year on the 24th of February, the birthday of "Charles the fifth", Gouden Carolus brews the Cuvee de Keizer Blauw, or "Grand Cru of the Emperor." The 2007 version, IMO, was the best tasting in recent years, followed by the 2002. The 2008 was syrupy and not to my liking. I wonder what 2010 has in store for us.

Yes, a truly outstanding beer that ages extremely well.

The changes from sweet and syrupy to nectar.....
Unheralded and often overlooked, it remains one of my all time favorites.
I have been reassured that the recipe remains unchanged. ...gotta wait and see.
Hopefully the 2008 will come around but the 2007 is leaps and bounds above the 08.
