Unconventional orchestrations that work.

As unusual as El Gran Combo's two alto saxophone, two trumpets and trombone thing is, Rafael Ithier made it work. In Jazz, the 1947 three tenor sax, one baritone sax section of Stan Getz, Zoot Sims, Herbie Steward and Serge Chaloff came together in the Woody Herman big band to create the famous Four Brothers. This power tenor sax sound is very appealing to me not only in timbre but also in execution. Highly recommended listening.
