Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay.

This album was, for a long time, one of my least favorite Freddie Hubbard offerings, not because of how or what Freddie played but more because of its style. Recorded in 1970, it was his first album after leaving Blue Note for Creed Taylor's CTI label and the beginning of his funk thing that lasted many years. I can now appreciate its importance and significance in the movement it created and understand that no matter his vehicle of choice, Freddie was simply an amazing trumpeter, arguably none better.
