P.S. 19 in Williamsburg is closing.

My initial reaction was one of sadness, despite having attended P.S.19 during difficult times for me personally, I met the first of a very small number of teachers that have had a profound influence on my life. 35 some odd years later, Mr. Lebowitz and I still speak occasionally. The bigger question is where are these kids are going to go, the whole 94% that attend regularly, I see a charter school on the horizon. Nice to know the city has no problem pimping these children to further their charter school utopian model. Sad but true.
